Message to Team Captains

Dear Ability Walk Team Captain,

Thank you for stepping up to lead a team in the 2017 Ability Walk & Roll for the Walla Walla Valley Disability Network (WWVDN). As a community event we hope to embrace the abilities in all of us, especially those family members or loved ones with disabilities.

The Walla Walla Valley Disability Network formed in 2014 and has offered 676 individuals with disabilities, their parents, siblings, peers and caregivers 14 separate recreational and social opportunities (Basketball (youth & adult), Bowling, University Buddy programs, etc.) all through volunteer support. The WWVDN also sponsors Parent to Parent (P2P) which has been serving families in Walla Walla since 1991. Last year 321 people attended 28 training and support meetings provided by our P2P Coordinators. Your investment of time and money will help us continue to reach families that benefit from specialized support.

As a Team Captain you will need to know the following;

A team is a group of individuals that “team up” to support an individual with a disability. Teams pool their fundraising efforts with the guidance of a Team Captain. Your job is to have each of your members complete the registration form and then pay for registration online or by check (see links above). Any additional team money collected can be turned in at the time of the walk. The most important thing that your team can do is support a person you know (family member, loved one, or friend) with a disability and help build awareness about their abilities. We encourage your team to have a good time. Ideas include, but are not limited to, bringing team banners or wearing matching t-shirts or colors.

Each member of your team receives an Ability Walk & Roll Medal and pin, food after the walk and can participate in all the day’s activities.

Please submit your Team Captain Commitment form online (see above) by August 31, 2017.

Registration payments can be made online (see above) or by check (payable to WWVDN) mailed to:

  • PO Box 1918
  • Walla Walla, WA 99362

Any other money raised can be turned in the day of the walk. Thank you again for your commitment to raise awareness and support.
