Our Story

Incorporated in 2014, Walla Walla Valley Disability Network was created by Carla L. Nibler, Angela Beam and Cynthia E. Knight as a 501(c)3 nonprofit to continue the services of Parent to Parent (P2P). P2P is a national program administered by the ARC of Washington and the WW County Department of Community Health, and provides emotional support and information for families of children with special needs through trained “Helping Parents”. Parent to Parent has been active in Walla Walla since 1991. All of our programs are offered in English (P2P Coordinator) and Spanish (Hispanic Outreach Coordinator) with monthly support meetings to reach families who may be having a difficult time adjusting to the demands of a diagnosis. P2P also assists families in navigating government services, the education system, and many diagnostic and medical facilities. As the child ages, additional services for parents in preparing their child for future employment and independence guide our trainings, workshops and community inclusion activities such as recreation and social opportunities.

The Walla Walla Valley Disability Network’s (WWVDN) mission is to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities and their families through community access and support. WWVDN achieves its mission through a variety of program offerings, collaborations and volunteer service to reach local residents with developmental disabilities and those that love them.
