Columbia County Celebrates Friendsgiving

Columbia County DDA families were able to celebrate Friendsgiving together on November 17th. The Eagles graciously hosted and made a huge dinner with turkey and all the fixings. And of course, we had pumpkin pie for dessert. It was such a nice treat to get together with the families and visit and laugh with one another.

Columbia County Ad Valorem funds paid for this dinner and a Christmas box of food for 15 families. We are so thankful for these funds and the families give great input on how to use it. The agencies involved with distributing these funds are the Columbia County Commissioners, Blue Mountain Counseling and the Columbia County Comnet board put together to distribute these funds with input from the DD community in Columbia County.

I also want to give a big thank you to Becky Gibson. She worked tirelessly to get the Friendsgiving meal put together and getting the food baskets shopped for and put together. Families really appreciated this and we could not have done it without you. Thank You Becky for loving on the community and giving so much of your time.

Parent to Parent holds a monthly meeting on the third Friday of the month in Dayton, Washington. We share a meal, do crafts, games, and sometimes have guest speakers. This group is a wonderful group of parents and their children that support one another through this journey. As the Parent to Parent coordinator, I love coming to the wonderful town of Dayton and meeting with families, and getting to know each and every one of you. I can truly call you friends.

Sincerely,

Angie Witt, Parent to Parent Coordinator
