Daven Harshman

Daven Harshman, Treasurer

I originate here from Walla Walla, and have spent my life living and working in the Walla Walla Valley. My free time consists of backpacking, fishing, and practicing photography – all while spending valuable time with my family and lifelong friends. I have lost two nephews to a rare metabolic disorder (MPS) and fully understand the difficulties encountered for families when raising a child with a disability. In their memory, I dedicate my time and effort to doing my part in making this world a better place for all individuals with disabilities.

I attended Walla Walla High School, Walla Walla Community College, and Washington State University prior to moving into my current position as Executive Assistant at a local Non-Profit organization; the Lillie Rice Center. For the past 11 years I have worked with adults with disabilities, veterans, and other individuals within our local community providing employment opportunities, job supports, and skills training. I have played a major role in the creation of two additional Non-Profit organizations (Blue Mountain Industries, LLC & James B. Rice, LLC), and in the transition of Lillie Rice Center services to better provide for the individuals in our community most at need. I work alongside those I serve in a multitude of occupational and service delivery programs, within a variety of different environments, always advocating to my fullest extent. I am a strong believer in inclusion and increased opportunity - and in spreading the recognition of the values of individual differences. I feel that all people should have the same opportunities - forming meaningful connections with our neighbors while fostering independence and self-reliance - of which results in happy and fulfilling lives. I am thankful for the opportunity to volunteer and support with helping WWVDN pursue these very similar goals.
