Connect & Play: Healthy Choices
Connect & Play is for Parents/Caregivers (Connect) and children with disabilities & their siblings under 12 years old (Play).
A hands-on, interactive session for the whole family!
For Parents:
We are excited to welcome a presenter from the Department of Health who will be sharing practical strategies for supporting children with picky eating. We’ll also explore general nutrition guidelines, understanding the food pyramid/MyPlate model, and tips for healthy eating on a budget. Resources and printable materials from MyPlate will be available to take home, including simple worksheets you can use with your child to reinforce healthy habits in a fun and approachable way.
For Kids:
Children will learn about healthy food choices through engaging, hands-on activities that connect directly to what parents are learning.
Build-Your-Own Healthy Snack - Practice making balanced choices by preparing their own snack
Play Food Sorting Game - Sort foods by food group using hands-on materials
Create My Healthy Plate - Build a balanced plate using visual guides and pretend or real food items
This session is all about learning practical strategies, building confidence around food, and connecting as families while encouraging healthy habits in a supportive, fun environment.
(Registration deadline is the Sunday before the event)
