Elopement Risk Level 1 - With Volunteers
Safety Reminder: SOAR events are designed to be fun, safe, and inclusive. Our volunteers will provide group support and supervision. While we do our best to minimize risks, participants who have a history of elopement (wandering or running) may require additional support from a family member or caregiver (a background check must be completed), especially at public events. Please let us know in advance if your participant may need extra attention so we can plan volunteer coverage accordingly.

RISE events are for children ages 8-12 with intellectual and developmental disabilities; no prior group experience necessary. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.

RISE is a play- and experience-based, structured program where children explore confidence, friendships, and early independence in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions run 90 minutes. Participation is encouraged, not forced.

Step into a fun, hands-on simulated community! In Community Quest, participants practice independence, communication, and safety while completing pretend community tasks, like ordering at a café, waiting in line, and following directions. Children rotate through stations that mimic real-world situations, building confidence and social awareness. Snack and reflection time focuses on “What helps me in the community?,” reinforcing problem-solving, turn-taking, and self-advocacy in a safe, supportive environment.
