The WWVDN wrapped up its 2024 season for Challenger Basketball and it was phenomenal!
This year we had 16 participants in our Youth League. Each week in the youth league Coach Patrick McFetridge taught youth participants the lay of the court (sideline, mid-court, three point line, etc.) as well as dribbling and shooting. Each week participants learned to shoot from different spots on the courts through a series of fun games. The youth league ended with a friendly competition between participants and their families, caregivers, and friends. It was a great success!
We had a whopping 21 people sign up for adult league this year. Coach Camden VanOcker split the court in two, allowing for participants to choose what worked best for them. Participants had their choice of playing half court games, working on skills and drills, or having fun shooting hoops. The adult league ended with an almost full participant game and all had a great time (we had some AMAZING players this year).
We also had a great turn out of youth students who were peer mentors to our players. They assisted players as needed and helped with the drills and even joined in on the games. We finished off the season with a pizza party and participants from both leagues received a certificate of completion.
