Saturday, May 17, 2025 the sky was dark with the constant downpour soaking our clothes as we waded our way towards our destination. It was the opposite of what most would consider an ideal spring day, but it did not discourage us from diving down the rabbit hole into a whimsical world full of curiosity and wonder.
The WWVDN SOAR program was able to host an Absolutely Alice Tea & Garden Party. Upon arrival our participants were greeted by David, dressed as the Mad Hatter, who invited them inside for a tea party. Once there they could indulge in delicious treats like mini corn dogs, pizza bagels, and taquitos. Tash also served drinks for the guests such as raspberry tea, mango juice, and Italian soda. Alice in Wonderland was played on the big screen and anyone who wasn't interested in the movie could work on coloring pages, word searches, or other activities.
About one hour into the party, we offered our participants miniature gardens they could decorate and bring home. Each garden had flower seeds inside they could help nurture and grow over time. When the movie was over we announced one last call for food and drinks before everyone said their goodbyes and climbed back out rabbit hole. The rain had subsided, and after a day full of adventure and wonder, I believe they were all eager to return home and take advantage of the remainder of this beautiful day.
Thanks again to Blue Mountain Community Church for allowing us to host this wonderful event!
