SOAR Night at Treachery at Cartilage Creek
On August 9th, SOAR participants had the chance to attend the uproariously funny teen production of “Treachery at Cartilage Creek or… Our Hero Has a Bone to Pick” performed by Upstage Teens.
The play whisked us away to the quirky desert town of Cartilage Creek, where the heroic Johnny Onthespot faced off against the unscrupulous Bogus Rancidview and his sly partner, Virginia Mayonnaise. With a scheming plan to bankrupt ranchers, a love story blooming between Crystal Clear and our hero, and the rich Widder Plunkett caught in the middle, it was a cascade of hilariously melodramatic twists and turns.
Our SOAR crew had an uproaring time! Laughing, cheering, and even interacting with the actors throughout the performance. The energy was contagious, and the playful spirit of melodrama made it easy for everyone to jump in and enjoy.
A very special highlight of the night was celebrating our very own SOAR member, Olivia Baez, who took the stage as the sassy and unforgettable Ms. Sassafras! Olivia shined in her role. We couldn’t have been prouder to see one of our own bringing so much joy and talent to the community stage.
The production, led by the incredible Cheryl Sutlick with assistant director Kate Van Cleve, was the result of two weeks of hard work, laughter, and dedication from the Upstage Teens cast. Their effort truly paid off with the outstanding performances we witnessed.
Bravo to the cast and crew, and a huge thank-you for welcoming SOAR to be part of this lively evening of theater. We’ll be talking (and laughing) about Cartilage Creek for a long time to come, and we can't wait to see Shrek the Musical in October!
