Connect & Play: Self-Care Superstars

Elopement Risk Level 1 - With Volunteers
Safety Reminder: SOAR events are designed to be fun, safe, and inclusive. Our volunteers will provide group support and supervision. While we do our best to minimize risks, participants who have a history of elopement (wandering or running) may require additional support from a family member or caregiver (a background check must be completed), especially at public events. Please let us know in advance if your participant may need extra attention so we can plan volunteer coverage accordingly.

Connect & Play is for Parents/Caregivers (Connect) and children with disabilities & their siblings under 12 years old (Play).

A hands-on, interactive session for the whole family!

For Parents: Learn strategies to manage burnout and practice self-care.

For Kids: Engage in fun activities that teach practical self-care and emotional regulation...

- Brush, Wash, Tie! – practice brushing teeth, washing hands, and tying shoes through fun games and role play
- Calm Down Corner – explore calming strategies with sensory play, bubble breathing, and stress-relief toys
- Self-Care Role Play – act out everyday routines and learn how to recognize and manage feelings

This session is all about learning, playing, and connecting together while reinforcing self-care skills in a fun, hands-on way.

(Registration deadline is the Sunday before the event)

Funding for Connect & Play provided by United Way of the Blue Mountains
