Elopement Risk Level 1 - With Volunteers

Safety Reminder: Events are designed to be fun, safe, and inclusive. Our volunteers will provide group support and supervision. While we do our best to minimize risks, participants who have a history of elopement (wandering or running) may require additional support from a family member or caregiver (a background check must be completed), especially at public events. Please let us know in advance if your participant may need extra attention so we can plan volunteer coverage accordingly.

LIFT & RISE events are for children ages 5-12 with intellectual and developmental disabilities; no prior group experience necessary. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.

We are combining LIFT & RISE into one group in order to facilitate friendships, offer activities for children 5-12 more frequently, and provide more opportunities to practice social skills and learn through play. LIFT & RISE are play- and experience-based, structured programs where children explore confidence, friendships, and early independence in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions run 90 minutes. Participation is encouraged, not forced.

This week, it’s time to shine as a leader! Leaders in Action gives participants opportunities to support peers, guide group activities, and showcase leadership skills through collaborative art, music, and movement games. Children practice turn-taking, giving compliments, and problem-solving while building confidence and teamwork. Snack and reflection time celebrates contributions and acknowledges moments of kindness, cooperation, and courage.
