LIFT & RISE: Messy Science Lab
LIFT & RISE events are for children ages 5-12 with intellectual and developmental disabilities; no prior group experience necessary. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.
We are combining LIFT & RISE into one group in order to facilitate friendships, offer activities for children 5-12 more frequently, and provide more opportunities to practice social skills and learn through play. LIFT & RISE are play- and experience-based, structured programs where children explore confidence, friendships, and early independence in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions run 90 minutes. Participation is encouraged, not forced.
Get ready for hands-on, sensory-friendly science fun! Participants will explore exciting reactions like fizzing, bubbling, and mixing through activities using baking soda, vinegar, water, and color. Participants will pour, scoop, and experiment at their own pace while building comfort in group spaces and engaging in shared discovery with peers.
