LIFT & RISE: Game Makers Lab
LIFT & RISE events are for children ages 5-12 with intellectual and developmental disabilities; no prior group experience necessary. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.
We are combining LIFT & RISE into one group in order to facilitate friendships, offer activities for children 5-12 more frequently, and provide more opportunities to practice social skills and learn through play. LIFT & RISE are play- and experience-based, structured programs where children explore confidence, friendships, and early independence in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions run 90 minutes. Participation is encouraged, not forced.
Participants will design, build, and play their own games using dice, cards, and creative materials. Participants will practice turn-taking, flexible thinking, and social interaction while creating game rules and inviting peers to play. This session supports independence, communication, and confidence through fun, interactive play.
