SOAR Scam Squad: a Digital Detective & Escape Room Night

Elopement Risk Level 1 - With Volunteers

Safety Reminder: SOAR events are designed to be fun, safe, and inclusive. Our volunteers will provide group support and supervision. While we do our best to minimize risks, participants who have a history of elopement (wandering or running) may require additional support from a family member or caregiver (a background check must be completed), especially at public events. Please let us know in advance if your participant may need extra attention so we can plan volunteer coverage accordingly.

SOAR events are for individuals age 13 and older. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.

This session focuses on helping participants spot scams, fake messages, and misleading online content through an interactive, mystery-themed experience. Participants will work in detective teams to solve a digital scam escape room, identify red flags in texts, emails, and ads, and practice safe responses such as stopping, checking, and asking for help. Group challenges, role-play scenarios, and guided discussion build confidence in recognizing misinformation and making safe online choices.
