LIFT & RISE: Tinker & Create Lab
LIFT & RISE events are for children ages 5-12 with intellectual and developmental disabilities; no prior group experience necessary. Registration for each event closes the Sunday before the event at 6:00 pm.
We are combining LIFT & RISE into one group in order to facilitate friendships, offer activities for children 5-12 more frequently, and provide more opportunities to practice social skills and learn through play. LIFT & RISE are play- and experience-based, structured programs where children explore confidence, friendships, and early independence in a safe and supportive environment. Sessions run 90 minutes. Participation is encouraged, not forced.
Participants will explore hands-on building and tinkering through cardboard construction, ramps and rolling experiments, and simple take-apart/put-together materials. Participants will test ideas, build creations, and discover cause-and-effect while working alongside peers. This session encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and shared exploration in a supportive, play-based environment.
